The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Out of Hours (OOH) Overnight Service as a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse. Working as part of the wider Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), the successful candidate will support the District Nursing Service in delivering high-quality, person-centred nursing care within community settings. The post holder will work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care that promotes independence and wellbeing.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent - 31.5 Hours
- Location: Mile End Centre - Paisley
- Working Pattern: 21:30-07:00 (7 nights from 14)
Key Responsibilities
The Community Staff Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care programmes under the direction of the District Nurse, ensuring care is tailored to the individual needs of patients, families and carers. The post holder will provide skilled nursing interventions within a community setting, support the management of delegated caseload activity, and contribute to the delivery of a responsive 24-hour nursing service. Responsibilities include:
- Undertaking risk assessments
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Supporting health promotion and rehabilitation
- Participating in quality improvement activities, audits and research
- Ensuring care is delivered in line with local and national policies, professional standards and best practice guidance
- Providing clinical leadership, supervising and supporting junior staff and students
- Participating in induction and preceptorship programmes
- Responding to emergency situations where required
- Working collaboratively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and partner agencies to coordinate patient care and promote positive health outcomes

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Registered Nurse with Part 1 NMC Registration (or 2nd Level Registration with General Nursing Experience)
- Significant post-registration nursing experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Evidence of NMC Revalidation
- Knowledge of community nursing practice and patient-centred care
- Understanding of health promotion, rehabilitation and maintaining independent living
- Knowledge of local, regional and national nursing policies, procedures and guidelines
- IT skills including word processing, email and internet use
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of risk assessment and clinical record keeping
- Commitment to supporting students, newly qualified staff and colleagues' development
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, including basic life support
