The Role

Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse who is passionate about improving the lives of children, young people and their families? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Specialist Community Paediatric Team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Band 5 Community Nurse. Working across community, clinic and home settings, you will provide assessment, support and evidence-based interventions for children with additional needs and their families. As part of Scotland’s largest NHS organisation, you will be supported to develop your skills, build meaningful relationships with families and contribute to high-quality, person-centred care. This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to make a real difference while developing your career within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Gorbals Health & Care Centre
Fixed-term for 12 months
Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, support and nursing interventions for children and young people with additional needs and their families
  • Plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care in partnership with children, families, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Deliver care within community, clinic and home settings, ensuring services are accessible, responsive and person-centred
  • Promote health improvement, health education and wellbeing through evidence-based interventions and family support
  • Work collaboratively with health, education, social care and voluntary sector partners to coordinate care and achieve positive outcomes
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to the safe and effective management of risk, safeguarding and child protection concerns
  • Support service development, quality improvement activities, audit and the learning and development of colleagues and students

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job

  • First level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with a current live PIN
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
  • Relevant experience working with children, young people and their families
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload and make informed professional decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Good IT skills including the use of email, word processing systems and electronic records, with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable for community working
