Join our friendly and dedicated team at the Fylde & Wyre Adult Disability Short Break Service, providing high-quality short breaks for adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and complex support needs.
As a Wake & Watch Worker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of people staying with us overnight. Working in a person-centred way, you'll provide tailored support, carry out wellbeing checks, assist with personal care where required, and help create a calm, welcoming environment where individuals can enjoy a positive and enriching short break experience. You'll be part of a supportive team that values kindness, dignity, and respect, with a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, and guidance from an experienced management team to help you thrive in your role.
Key Responsibilities...
- Provide overnight supervision and support to adults with disabilities.
- Support individuals with personal care and night-time routines.
- Monitor health, wellbeing, and safety throughout the night.
- Administer medication where required and in accordance with policy.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, health needs, and emergencies.
- Complete accurate records, reports, and handovers.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Work in accordance with safeguarding procedures, legislation, and service policies at all times.
- Promote dignity, respect, choice, independence, and inclusion.

About you...
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a caring, compassionate, and positive approach.
- Is able to work independently during waking night shifts.
- Has excellent communication and recording skills.
- Can work flexibly as part of a rota-based service.
- Is committed to safeguarding vulnerable adults.
- Understands and values person-centred support.
- Has experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, or complex needs (desirable but not essential).
Experience within health and social care is desirable, although full training and support will be provided. We welcome applications from individuals who share our values and are committed to making a positive difference in people's lives.

Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East, and West Lancashire from April 2029.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2029, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
Throughout this period, our focus remains on delivering excellent services to our communities. By joining us now, you'll play an important role in shaping the future of local government and helping to build a strong new organisation that will serve residents for years to come.
