Community Welfare and Inclusion Officer

Department: Health & Wellbeing

Location: Various locations across Burnley and Pendle

Salary: £25,000 - £27,500 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed-Term until 30th June 2027

Working Pattern: 35 hours per week (Mon – Fri), with flexibility required to work occasional evenings to meet the needs of the role.

About the Role:

To deliver across our busy and diverse Community Welfare and Inclusion department which delivers programmes, projects and sessions across the Burnley, Pendle and East Lancashire area. In this role you will use the influence of sport to deliver positive change in the lives of under-represented or vulnerable groups and individuals within the local community.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Delivery & Participant Engagement

  • To engage, inspire and empower people to reach their full potential.
  • To support a number of programmes with their delivery, namely our Veterans Programme, Health and Wellbeing programmes, Targeted Intervention programmes, and our Youth Engagement programmes.
  • Work with individuals and/or groups from a range of diverse backgrounds.
  • Promote all projects in schools and in community settings across, Burnley, Pendle and East Lancashire to ensure that projects achieve their Key Performance Indictors (KPI’s).

Community Development & Partnership Working

  • Generate new ideas as to how the Community Welfare and Inclusion department can be developed further, whilst ensuring high quality of delivery.
  • Target areas of greatest need, working with colleagues to identify and respond to the need.
  • To build and maintain strong partnerships with local, regional and national organisations to enhance programmes.
  • Promote Burnley FC in the Community in community settings across Burnley, Pendle and East Lancashire to ensure a diverse range of participants attend programmes, and the projects achieve their Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

Compliance, Safeguarding & Data Management

  • Support the department to ensure all activities are correctly monitored with the appropriate risk assessments, safeguarding and health and safety procedures in place.
  • To lead on data collection, ensuring Salesforce and other reporting platforms are consistently up to date.

General

  • To understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment.
  • To be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires. You may be required to work the occasional match day which may fall on a weekend or evening.
  • To work towards agreed objectives.
  • Comply with all Charity policies.
  • Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner.
  • Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice.
  • Hold a commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace.
  • Willingness to attend training courses to enhance own professional development.

About You:

To be successful within this role, you will have:

  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent qualification).
  • Level 2 qualification in Youth Work, Mentoring, or a related discipline, or a willingness to work towards.
  • Experience of coaching, mentoring, or supporting young people and/or adults in a community, education, sport, or youth work setting.
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged individuals or under-represented groups, with a passion for improving opportunities and outcomes.
  • Experience of applying safeguarding practices and procedures when working with children, young people, and/or adults at risk.
  • Prioritises workload effectively to meet deadlines and agreed targets.
  • Communicates positively with clarity and understanding, adapting their approach to the audience.
  • Builds positive relationships and actively collaborates with colleagues across teams and departments.
  • Consistently works cooperatively with others and contributes positively to team objectives.
  • Responds positively to change and considers different perspectives when adapting to new situations.
