Iconic Resourcing is delighted to be supporting DGP Materials Handling in the appointment of a Company Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, well-established business and take ownership of the finance function during an exciting period of growth and change.

DGP is Scotland's leading independent specialist in forklift sales and long-term hire, with a strong reputation built over more than 50 years. The business has recently expanded through acquisition and is investing in new systems and processes to support future growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day accounts function across both businesses
  • Leading and developing a team of five finance staff
  • Preparing monthly management accounts
  • Managing payroll submissions through an external provider
  • Completing VAT returns and other compliance requirements
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
  • Overseeing accounts payable, receivable and credit control
  • Assisting with year-end and audit activity
  • Supporting the integration of a recently acquired business
  • Playing a key role in finance system and process improvements
  • Working closely with the Finance Director to support the continued growth of the business

Previous Experience:

We're open to candidates who are fully qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience, provided you have strong accounting skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced SME environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience preparing management accounts and overseeing finance operations, including a small team
  • Strong reconciliation, reporting and month-end skills
  • Good systems knowledge, including Excel and accounting software
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
  • A practical and hands-on approach
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work across the business
  • An interest in improving processes and supporting change initiatives

Experience within manufacturing, construction, plant hire, equipment hire, logistics or the motor trade would be particularly advantageous.
