Company bookkeeper and accountant

JOB PURPOSE
Maintain sales and purchase ledgers preparing all supplier payments on time. Recording and maintaining all the group’s financial transactions to produce monthly management accounts for review by the Board.
Details
- Location: London ideally but can be remote
- Hours: 3 days per week (flexible)
- Contract: Part-time, ongoing
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Accountant (3/4 days per week) to manage financial operations for a leading music events company. This role requires strong expertise in Xero, budgeting, and payroll, with the ability to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process all purchase and expense invoices to the correct cost centre on the accounting system ensuring that they have first been approved and authorised.
- Issue and process sales invoices to the correct profit centre on the system.
- Prepare a weekly bank payment run for authorisation by the Managing Director.
- Process all monthly journal entries for depreciation, accruals, and prepayments.
- Produce monthly management accounts to an agreed format highlighting budget variances.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset register.
- Reconcile all bank accounts monthly.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Reconcile all outstanding supplier accounts monthly.
- Prepare a weekly(/monthly) aged creditor and aged debtor report.
- Prepare and submit the quarterly VAT Return.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets.
- Preparation of the monthly payroll data.
- Prepare the year-end accounts and assist the external audit team with queries.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bookkeeper with full/part qualified AAT experience.
- Proven accounting experience, ideally in the music, events, or creative sectors.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A good team player who can work well within a team.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Positive and professional approach.
- Effective Communicator.
- Proficiency in Xero and strong financial reporting skills.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, payroll, and cash flow management.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently to deadlines.
