Experienced Company Secretary Manager Opportunity

I am delighted to be supporting a top-tier professional services firm with the appointment of an experienced Company Secretary Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an established Company Secretary to help manage and grow the future of a highly regarded Company Secretarial function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management: Manage, mentor, and develop the CoSec team while overseeing work allocation to ensure efficient, cost-effective service delivery.
  • Strategic & Operational Growth: Drive the strategic expansion of the CoSec offering, embracing legal tech, AI, and process improvements to streamline operations and expand service lines.
  • Senior Advisory & Governance: Act as the technical lead on complex governance matters, including director duties, ECCTA impacts, policy drafting, complex PSC enquiries, and statutory register reconstructions.
  • Client & Business Development: Manage key client relationships, support Partners on pitches and fee proposals, and identify opportunities to expand existing client engagements.
  • Cross-Practice Collaboration: Work closely alongside internal legal teams (Corporate, Commercial, Employment, Real Estate) to provide seamless governance support across complex transactions.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in a company secretarial leadership role or corporate legal background, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Deep technical knowledge of the Companies Act 2006, ECCTA, statutory compliance, and broader UK corporate governance frameworks.
  • CGI/ICSA qualification or Law degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in team management, work allocation, and managing the financial performance of a service line (fee proposals, WIP, invoicing).
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to advise senior stakeholders and complex portfolio clients (experience with listed or large international groups is advantageous).
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational capability, and familiarity with modern governance tools.
