Our client, a global hedge fund expanding its presence in Europe, is looking to hire a Compensation Specialist to be based in the firm’s London office.
Reporting to the Global Head of Rewards and supported by a well-structured HR team, the hire will step into a newly created role taking ownership of rewards, compensation and benefits operations and strategic delivery across the firm’s European coverage. As the firm grows, one of the hire’s first priorities will be to own, drive and centralise cyclical processes, working closely with HR Business Partners on performance reviews, bonus structures and appraisals. The hire will provide strategic solutions and expert advice to multiple stakeholders; combining in-depth knowledge of total reward principles, understanding of the business needs, market and regulatory landscape, and associated detailed analysis & models. Example BAU responsibilities include the design, delivery and management of compensation frameworks / providing in-depth knowledge of key financial performance metrics and driving improvements in internal modelling capabilities. The hire will act as the SME on total reward plans, working to track buy-side peers and make improvements to internal package structures to remain competitive and drive reverse benchmarking research to boost attractiveness. The hire will also play a key role in the initiative to make HR a more data driven and quantitative function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate will have 2 – 5 years of experience as a Compensation Specialist / Total reward Specialist with experience supporting employees at all levels (Junior to C-Suite) at a leading hedge fund, investment bank or private equity firm. The firm operates with a very flat structure, so they are looking for a professional that is comfortable taking a hands-on approach whilst also being able to step back and take a more strategic lens when needed. This is a business-critical hire and the firm is ideally looking for a professional that is looking to take on more responsibility and autonomy / to step-up.
