At Victrex, safety, expertise and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an enthusiastic and influential Competency Facilitator to help develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours that keep our operations running safely, effectively and compliantly.

This is a highly visible role where you'll work closely with employees, managers, apprentices and external providers to build technical capability across our business. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our people have the competence to operate and maintain our assets safely while meeting both internal standards and external regulatory requirements.

As our Competency Facilitator, you'll help us:

✅ Maintain a safe and competent workforce
✅ Meet internal procedures and external regulatory requirements
✅ Demonstrate competence to customers, auditors and regulators
✅ Build future capability through structured development programmes
✅ Develop the next generation of technical talent through apprenticeships

What you'll be doing

🌟 Develop Technical Excellence
Design, develop and deliver competency frameworks that support operational excellence.
Assess skills and competency levels against required standards.
Create development plans to close capability gaps and build long-term workforce competence.
Support managers and employees in achieving and maintaining competency standards.

🎓 Lead Apprenticeship Development
Take ownership of some of our apprenticeship programmes from recruitment through to qualification.
Coach, mentor and support apprentices throughout their development journey.
Ensure programme content aligns with business requirements and future skills needs.
Maintain relationships with education providers and external bodies.

🦺 Promote a Safety-First Culture
Embed safety into every aspect of learning and development.
Coach teams on safe behaviours and best practices.
Ensure all competency and training activities support our commitment to operational safety.

💡 Drive Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve competency, assessment and training processes.
Use data and insights to measure effectiveness and support decision-making.
Develop consistent, standardised approaches to learning and competency management.

What we're looking for

  • Experience developing competency frameworks, technical training programmes or capability-building initiatives.
  • Knowledge of UK qualification frameworks, apprenticeships and competency assurance processes.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a genuine passion for developing others.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confidence working with data and presenting information in a clear and meaningful way.
  • Strong IT skills and experience creating engaging learning materials across a variety of platforms.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
