Lead change. Drive improvement. Put residents at the heart of everything we do.
At Teign Homes, we believe complaints are one of the most valuable sources of customer insight available to us. They help us understand where services can improve, strengthen accountability, and ensure residents' voices shape the decisions we make.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Complaints & Service Improvement Manager to lead our complaints service and help drive a culture where learning, transparency and continuous improvement are embedded across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile service at a time when complaints handling has never been more important. Reporting to the Head of Customer Service & Communications, you will lead a dedicated team and work closely with colleagues, residents, senior leaders and external stakeholders to ensure complaints are handled fairly, consistently and in line with the Housing Ombudsman's Complaint Handling Code.

You will:
- Lead and develop a high-performing complaints team.
- Ensure compliance with the Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the management of complex, sensitive and high-risk complaints.
- Act as the organisation's lead on complaint handling best practice.
- Develop performance reporting, insight and assurance relating to complaints.
- Analyse complaint trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for service improvement.
- Support compliance with the Consumer Standards, particularly the Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard.
- Build strong relationships with residents, resident groups, colleagues, councillors, MPs and external partners.
- Lead the organisation's annual Complaint Handling Code self-assessment.
- Coordinate responses to Housing Ombudsman investigations, orders, recommendations and determinations.
- Ensure learning from complaints drives meaningful change across the organisation.
- Present complaints performance, risks and improvement activity to senior leadership and governance groups.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
