Role Description

The Complex Care Assistant role is an on-site position based in Peacehaven, providing person-centered support to individuals with complex health and care needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Supporting mobility and manual handling
  • Helping with daily living activities such as dressing, eating, and maintaining hygiene

The Complex Care Assistant will:

  • Build trusting relationships with service users, including those living with dementia
  • Promote independence wherever possible
  • Maintain clear and accurate care records
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Follow care plans and safety procedures
  • Uphold the organization’s values in every interaction

Qualifications

  • Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build rapport, listen effectively, and interact sensitively with service users, families, and colleagues.
  • Caregiving and Dementia Care skills to provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with complex needs, including those living with cognitive impairments.
  • Manual Handling skills and an understanding of safe mobility support to assist service users in a way that protects both their safety and the assistant’s wellbeing.
  • Relevant care qualifications or training (e.g., NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care, care certificates, or equivalent) would be beneficial.
  • Experience in complex care, homecare, or a similar support environment, along with knowledge of safeguarding and basic health and safety practices, would be advantageous.
  • Ability to follow detailed care plans, maintain accurate documentation, work flexibly across shifts, and demonstrate reliability and professionalism in all duties.
