Company Description

Location: Herne Hill, Lambeth (SE24)
Pay Rate: £15 - £15.75 per hour
Shifts Available: 2 Shifts Per Week - Thursday Days & Friday Nights
Driver Required: Yes - full UK licence and access to your own vehicle

Job Description

What you’ll do

This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your current skill base and join us as a Complex Care Assistant.

The client is a very intelligent and articulate young gentleman who has a quadriplegic spinal injury. We are looking for people who are sensitive and aware that carers who can communicate effectively, as the client will expect to be able to direct his care and be understood.

He was a rugby player prior to his accident and he enjoys socialising with his friends and playing on his Xbox. It's also worth of note that the client was once president of the University of Portsmouth Sports Society.

In terms of the clinical aspects and necessary interventions, you will be providing person-centred care. Monitoring his condition for autonomic dysreflexia; utilising specialised moving and handling equipment, ventilation support with nebulisers and cough assist, stoma care, bladder/catheter care, taking general observations and vitals.

If you are experienced in caring for a client with a spinal injury, we would definitely welcome your application.

Qualifications

What you’ll need

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Previous complex care experience in working with spinal injuries and catheter care is essential.
  • A background in stoma care, ventilators (Theory), nebulisers and cough assist would make your application very advantageous.
