We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Complex Case & Safeguarding Lead to join our Resident Services team. This rewarding role is central to protecting adults and children who are at risk of harm and abuse across Adur & Worthing.
In this role, you will provide essential operational and policy support to the Corporate Director for Housing and Communities and the Proactive Project Lead, ensuring the Councils’ statutory compliance with all safeguarding duties and responsibilities.
You will act as the primary point of contact for safeguarding queries, ensuring that referrals are made in a timely manner and accurately recorded. A key part of this role involves organising and chairing internal complex case meetings to support those who do not meet standard safeguarding thresholds. You will also lead on the Council’s safeguarding governance framework, ensure our policies remain current, and represent the Councils at external partnership meetings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent understanding of safeguarding legislation and the ability to apply referral thresholds for both adults and children. You will be a skilled communicator, capable of translating complex legislation into practice, producing high-quality reports, and negotiating effectively with internal and external partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
