Assistant Lawyer - Complex Injury
📍 Manchester or Bolton | Hybrid Working (1 Day Per Week in the Office)
Keoghs is looking to recruit an Assistant Lawyer to join our established Complex Injury team, supporting Rebecca Duxbury on a challenging and rewarding caseload of high-value, multi-track and catastrophic injury claims. This role offers exposure to significant personal injury litigation including TBI as well as complex orthopaedic & psychological claims.
Whether you already have experience handling catastrophic injury matters or you're an ambitious personal injury litigator looking to develop into this specialist area, this is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced lawyers, gain exposure to complex claims and continue building your technical expertise.
What You'll Be Doing
- You'll work closely with Rebecca on claims valued up to £1.5 million, supporting the progression of cases from initial instruction through to resolution. The role combines technical legal work, strategic case management and direct client interaction, offering genuine responsibility and excellent development opportunities.
- Assisting with a caseload of complex injury and catastrophic injury claims.
- Analysing liability, causation and quantum evidence to support case strategy.
- Reviewing medical records and identifying key issues for expert instruction.
- Drafting witness statements, pleadings, applications and technical advice.
- Liaising with insurer clients, insured parties, witnesses, experts and counsel.
- Attending conferences, mediations, joint settlement meetings and court hearings.
- Supporting the delivery of excellent client service while maintaining high technical standards.
- Assisting with the supervision and development of junior team members where appropriate.

What we're looking for
We're interested in hearing from:
- Qualified Solicitors, CILEx professionals or candidates with equivalent relevant legal experience.
- Personal injury litigators with experience of handling defendant or claimant injury claims.
- Individuals with experience of indemnity, liability and quantum issues.
- Candidates who enjoy analysing evidence and tackling complex legal and medical issues.
- Lawyers with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients.
- Individuals looking to develop their expertise within complex and catastrophic injury litigation.
- Previous experience of catastrophic injury work would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from talented personal injury lawyers who can demonstrate strong litigation experience and a genuine interest in developing within this specialist field.
