Compliance & Assurance Officer
This is a new and varied role supporting how Bell Ingram manages quality, health and safety, environmental performance and wider business compliance. The final balance of responsibilities will be agreed with the successful candidate, taking account of their skills and experience and the needs of the business. We welcome candidates from compliance, quality, health and safety, environmental, HR or other relevant backgrounds
You’ll work with colleagues across our teams and offices, coordinating established programmes of work, maintaining accurate records and following actions through to completion. You’ll also carry out defined checks to help us understand where our processes are working well and where improvements are needed.

Hours
This is a full time, permanent position but applications from candidates seeking part-time hours of at least three days per week will also be considered.

The role
Key responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring and assurance: Carry out compliance spot checks and coordinate peer file reviews, identifying gaps, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement. Support internal and external audits, coordinate contractor and supplier assessments, and gather evidence for accreditations and client requirements.
- Policies, procedures and document control: Help draft, review and update policies, procedures and guidance, working with the Governance, Risk & Assurance Manager and relevant business leads. Review documents against agreed requirements, identify changes needed and flag matters requiring specialist advice. Maintain document control and communicate updates clearly to colleagues.
- Reporting and improvement: Gather, check and analyse figures and statistics, including carbon footprint and equality, diversity and inclusion data. Identify trends and areas needing attention, prepare clear summaries and contribute to recommendations for practical improvements.
- Risk and corrective actions: Maintain risk, incident, complaints and non-conformance registers. Track agreed actions through to completion, follow up with action owners, obtain supporting evidence and highlight overdue actions or unresolved concerns.
- Training and competency: Administer the ProCompliance training system, monitor completion and follow up overdue requirements. Coordinate first aid and other training, annual driving licence checks and travel-for-work declarations and communicate approved guidance and safety alerts.
- COSHH management: Maintain the COSHH register, assessments and safety data sheets, and coordinate the review and approval process for new products.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- Relevant experience in compliance, quality, health and safety, environmental management, audit, HR or another role involving structured processes, confidential information and accurate record keeping.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and follow tasks through to completion.
- Excellent attention to detail and confidence maintaining accurate records.
- Clear written communication and an approachable, professional manner, including confidence following up with colleagues at all levels.
- Confidence using Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint.
- Good judgement about when to resolve a routine issue and when to seek guidance or escalate a concern.
- Discretion when handling confidential information.

Desirable
- A recognised QHSE qualification or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience working with management systems aligned to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and/or ISO 27001.
- Internal auditor training or experience supporting audits and tracking corrective actions.
- Experience coordinating training or administering a learning management system.
- Experience with health and safety records, environmental or ESG data, or supplier assurance.
- Awareness of data protection, cyber security or responsible use of AI in a business setting.
- Experience in a multi-office business, particularly professional services, property, surveying or fieldwork. We value practical experience and a willingness to learn. You do not need to meet every desirable requirement to apply.
Development and support
You’ll work closely with our Governance, Risk & Assurance Manager and build relationships with teams across Bell Ingram. We’ll help you learn our business and develop your compliance knowledge, with company-funded training, including relevant ISO courses.
As your understanding of our processes grows, there will be an opportunity to undertake internal auditor training and become involved in conducting audits, taking on greater responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
Location
Perth is the preferred base, although any Bell Ingram office would be considered. Hybrid working and a flexible working pattern may be available, subject to the needs of the role, with regular time in the office and occasional visits to other Bell Ingram offices required.
