Compliance Assistant

12-month FTC

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading food manufacturing business in with the recruitment of a Compliance Assistant to join their technical team on a maternity cover basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in food manufacturing, technical compliance or product specifications to take responsibility for maintaining accurate product information, supporting food safety compliance and working closely with suppliers, customers and internal teams.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will play an important role in maintaining product specifications and ensuring products meet relevant legal, food safety and customer requirements. You will work across Technical, Quality, NPD and Procurement, while also communicating directly with suppliers and customers to obtain and verify product information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and update product specifications using internal systems and customer portals.
  • Ensure product specifications are accurate, complete and compliant with relevant food safety legislation and customer requirements.
  • Update specifications following product changes, reformulations and regulatory updates.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU food legislation, including allergen declarations and nutritional labelling requirements.
  • Support technical compliance with BRCGS, retailer codes of practice and wider GFSI standards.
  • Maintain accurate databases covering raw materials, finished products, allergens and nutritional information.
  • Check and validate technical data to ensure accuracy and consistency across internal systems.
  • Work closely with Technical, Quality Assurance, NPD and Procurement teams.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate raw material information, specifications and certificates of analysis.
  • Communicate with customers to clarify specification requirements and resolve technical queries.
  • Provide technical documentation and product information to support customer audits and technical reviews.
  • Respond to customer requests for information, including allergen matrices, ingredient declarations and product specifications.

  • Experience within food manufacturing, technical, quality, compliance or specifications.
  • Experience working with product specifications and technical documentation.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
