Key responsibilities
- Conduct detailed customer and business reviews across KYC, KYB, transaction monitoring, sanctions, PEP and adverse media risk.
- Investigate and disposition transaction monitoring alerts, identifying unusual or potentially suspicious activity and escalating where appropriate.
- Manage complex financial crime cases from initial alert or trigger through investigation, decision and closure.
- Support KYB refreshes and periodic reviews, assessing changes to ownership, management, business activity, jurisdictions, expected activity and overall risk.
- Manage and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from banking, payment and other financial services partners, gathering and analysing relevant information and ensuring responses are accurate, complete and appropriately documented.
- Undertake proactive research into customers, businesses, counterparties, transactions, ownership structures and associated individuals where additional information is required.
- Use Sumsub to review customer information, screening results, transaction activity, cases and supporting documentation.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies or unusual patterns across customer information and transactional activity and determine appropriate next steps.
- Perform enhanced due diligence on higher-risk customers and business relationships, escalating material concerns to the MLRO/DMLRO or relevant Compliance colleagues.
- Review customer activity against expected business models and risk profiles, identifying potential deviations or emerging risk.
- Support the investigation and escalation of potentially suspicious activity, including preparation of clear and well-evidenced case summaries for review.
- Support ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews across the customer base, ensuring reviews are completed to the required standard and within agreed timescales.
- Assist with compliance testing, quality assurance, thematic reviews and remediation exercises.

The requirements:

- Approximately 3 years' experience in AML, financial crime, compliance or a related role within a regulated environment.
- Experience within payments, banking, e-money, fintech or another regulated financial services business.
- Hands-on experience of transaction monitoring, including investigating alerts and making risk-based decisions.
- Experience using Sumsub or a similar KYC, KYB, screening, transaction monitoring or case management platform.
