Cheshire - 3 days per week office
An excellent opportunity to join a newly developing Second Line Assurance function within a large, highly regulated organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Assurance, you’ll play a key role in delivering risk-based assurance reviews and control testing, while also helping shape and develop the wider Assurance capability. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of reviews from planning through to testing, findings and stakeholder engagement.
The role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering end-to-end assurance reviews and control testing
- Assessing the design and operating effectiveness of key controls
- Gathering and evaluating evidence, undertaking sampling and reaching clear conclusions
- Producing concise, evidence-based findings and practical recommendations
- Tracking agreed actions and remediation through to completion
- Providing constructive, independent challenge to stakeholders
- Supporting assurance across regulatory compliance, financial crime and operational risk
- Helping develop assurance methodology, reporting and the use of data, technology and analytics

What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have experience within Assurance, Risk, Compliance, Financial Crime, Internal Audit or another controls-focused role within a regulated organisation, together with practical experience of control testing or assurance reviews.

Just as importantly, you’ll be confident, credible and resilient, comfortable challenging stakeholders constructively and prepared to stand behind your conclusions when supported by the evidence.
You’ll be collaborative and personable, but also independently minded, solutions-focused and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who enjoys Assurance but wants more than simply inheriting an established methodology. You’ll work closely with a newly appointed Head of Assurance and have a genuine opportunity to help shape the function as it develops.
