Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Crime Data analyst to leverage data driven insights in the fight against financial crime. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data management, analytics, modelling, and communication along with a strong understanding of financial crime focusing on customer due diligence and customer risk assessments.

  • Support the Bank’s Customer Due Diligence program through advanced data analytics, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and strengthening the control framework.
  • Use data insights to enhance data management, modelling, monitoring, and reporting capabilities, while identifying patterns, trends, and risks within the customer due diligence -related activities.

As a regulated financial institution, the Bank has a regulatory obligation to establish and maintain policies, procedures, systems and controls to mitigate and effectively manage financial crime risk. The Bank has operations across the EMEA region and is required to consider legal and regulatory frameworks impacting the Banks operations. This also enables the Bank to meet its risk appetite relating to financial crime risks.

The role will provide advice and guidance to the Bank, with respect to its customer due diligence control framework.

The role will also support the Deputy Head of KYC Strategy with respect to strategic initiatives, in order to ensure that the Bank’s Customer Risk Assessment Model and customer due diligence controls framework remains fit for purpose and agile for future business and regulatory requirements.

Position Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Design, implement, optimise, execute, and own advanced SQL queries to extract and analyse large volumes of financial data, identifying patterns, trends and anomalies indicative of financial crime.
  • Translate complex datasets into actionable insights, dashboards and Management Information reports using data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) for communication to senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Analyse large datasets from customer due diligence to detect and communicate financial crime risks and emerging trends.
  • Develop and own dashboards, reports, and metrics to track performance and operational efficiency of the Customer Due Diligence control framework and Customer Risk Assessment model.
  • Lead deep-dive modelling for scenario, stress, calibration and change implementation testing, reporting insights and recommendations to policy and model owners.
  • Coordinate with Technology Department to maintain and enhance Customer Risk Assessment, models and model implementation. (Camunda, Fenergo), balancing risk mitigation with operational efficiency.
  • Lead the development of automated reporting processes and build analytical tools within Customer Due Diligence across compliance.
  • Lead Risk assessments by conducting analysis to identify new and emerging risks and threats, supporting the development and enhancement of monitoring models and rules based on analytical findings.
  • Manage the monitoring and assessment of the effectiveness of the Customer Risk Assessment model in line with FATF, Wolfsberg, EU, and local Legal and Regulatory requirements and guidance.
  • Ensure data integrity and manage the implementation of internal data governance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • Experience: Proven experience in a data analytics role, preferably within financial crime, risk or compliance function in the financial services sector.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong background in data analytics, data science, or quantitative analysis (SQL, Python, R, SAS, or similar). Experience with data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.). Automation is highly advantageous.
  • Financial crime Knowledge: Knowledge of Customer Due Diligence regulations. Understanding of financial crime principles and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Analytical skills: Exceptional analytical skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to synthesise complex information and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Professional certifications in financial crime (e.g., ACAMS, ICA) desirable but not essential.
