We are looking for someone to take clear ownership of day-to-day compliance administration and the end-to-end delivery of Vanden’s Prior Informed Consent (PIC) contracts.
This is not a role where compliance sits separately from the operation. The Compliance Lead will connect Compliance, Service Delivery, and Commercial activity—making sure contract requirements, evidence, and actions remain aligned with what is happening across the business.
It is an opportunity to build broader influence, become a trusted source of compliance knowledge, and take ownership of an area that directly supports Vanden’s ability to trade responsibly and effectively.
The Opportunity
You will lead the delivery and administration of all PIC contracts, from implementation through to close-out. You will also create one clear point of ownership for compliance records, trackers, evidence, and follow-up actions.
The role requires someone who is comfortable in the detail but can also work across teams and at different levels. You will need the confidence to work independently, challenge gaps constructively, and find practical solutions when there is no obvious playbook.
This is functional leadership rather than direct people management. You will provide clarity, coordination, guidance, and follow-through across Compliance, Service Delivery, and Commercial, but you will not have formal line-management responsibility.
What You’ll Take Ownership Of
- Own the end-to-end delivery of all PIC contracts, including implementation, meetings, administration, record-keeping, follow-up actions, and close-out.
- Maintain compliance trackers, evidence logs, consent records, and operational documentation to a consistently high standard.
- Identify missing information, incomplete actions, and recurring gaps, following them through until they are resolved or appropriately escalated.
- Keep Service Delivery and Commercial working from the same picture so that contract and compliance requirements never come as a surprise.
- Prepare compliance information and supporting evidence for audits, reviews, internal checks, and management updates.
- Provide clear guidance to colleagues on documentation standards, evidence requirements, and agreed ways of working.
- Work closely with Service Delivery, Contracts, Logistics, and Commercial to keep compliance aligned with operational and customer activity.
- Identify where weak processes create compliance risk and recommend practical improvements that prevent issues from recurring.
- Escalate significant risks, repeated non-adherence, or unresolved actions to the Service Centre Manager in a timely and evidence-based way.
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and professional judgment when handling contracts, records, and customer information.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in compliance administration, contract administration, Service Delivery, operational documentation, or customer records.
- Can manage contracts and actions through to completion rather than simply identifying what needs to be done.
- Has strong administrative discipline, attention to detail, and document-control skills.
- Is confident maintaining trackers, evidence logs, and accurate records.
- Can interpret requirements and turn them into clear, practical actions for colleagues.
- Works independently, uses initiative, and makes sound judgment calls without needing close direction.
- Is comfortable following up, challenging constructively, and holding actions to account.
- Can move confidently between operational detail and conversations with Commercial and senior stakeholders.
- Brings a genuine can-do attitude and looks for solutions rather than stopping at the first obstacle.
- Remains calm, organized, and resilient when priorities change or deadlines tighten.
Compliance Knowledge
A working knowledge of the waste and environmental compliance framework Vanden operates within would be a strong advantage. This includes:
- Environment Agency, SEPA, and NIEA registrations.
- The Basel Convention and OECD waste-shipment processes supporting PIC.
- ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Brokerage, exemption, and export registrations.
- Packaging-waste and WEEE accreditation.
- Export and import requirements for regulated or controlled waste streams.
- The audit trail required to evidence compliant material handling, including consent documents, weighbridge tickets, and packing lists.

Previous compliance experience in recycling, waste management, plastics, metals, or another regulated materials or logistics environment would be particularly relevant. However, we will also consider someone with strong transferable operational experience and the ability and commitment to build the required technical knowledge quickly.

- PIC contracts are delivered on time and administered to a consistently high standard.
- Compliance information is accurate, trusted, and easy to retrieve.
- Missing information and overdue actions are visible and followed through without needing to be chased.
- Service Delivery and Commercial see Compliance as an enabler rather than a blocker.
- Colleagues understand what is required and receive clear, consistent guidance.
- Recurring compliance issues reduce because the underlying processes improve.
- The Service Centre Manager has clear visibility of compliance and PIC contract risk without needing to personally chase every action.
Working Pattern and Flexibility
The role will normally be performed within agreed working hours. However, occasional flexibility may be needed to support urgent compliance or PIC contract deadlines, customer or supplier requirements, audit preparation, month-end activity, or operational handovers across time zones.
