What you’ll be doing:
As a Compliance Leader (General), you will play a central role in shaping and delivering the Compliance Framework, working in close partnership with the Group Head of Compliance and acting as a key bridge between the Compliance team and the wider business.
This is a broad, high-impact role requiring both technical expertise and strong leadership capability. You will be responsible for driving regulatory change, supporting the business in embedding compliance into day-to-day operations, and ensuring that risks identified through monitoring and oversight are effectively resolved.
You will operate as the most senior member of the Compliance team below the Group Head of Compliance, providing continuity of leadership, supporting team management, and stepping into senior forums as required.
This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to actively shape the evolution of the second-line compliance function.
The primary responsibilities of this role include (but not limited to):
Regulatory Advice & Business Partnering
- Provide pragmatic, proportionate compliance advice to senior stakeholders
- Embed a “compliant by design” approach across products, pricing, and customer journeys
- Support decision-making by balancing regulatory requirements with commercial objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor across key business areas
- Partner with compliance leadership to ensure you, and your team, remain abreast of ongoing regulatory developments.
- Support the business in preparing for and responding to regulatory engagement and audits.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
