Compliance Manager Location: Latchingdon, Essex Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Arrangement: On-site

We are now looking to appoint an experienced Compliance Manager to take day-to-day ownership of compliance activities across the Group.
The Role Reporting to the Head of Compliance & Systems Development, the Compliance Manager will take day-to-day ownership of the Group's Compliance function and act as the principal point of contact for routine compliance matters. This is an active, hands-on management role rather than solely an administrative or reporting position. The successful candidate will be expected to identify issues, investigate underlying causes, coordinate corrective and preventative actions and ensure matters are followed through to effective completion. A key responsibility will be overseeing the Group's compliance with relevant standards and accreditations, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001, PAS 43 and BS 10125, ensuring appropriate systems, controls and evidence remain in place and that the business is prepared for internal and external audits, surveillance visits and assessments. The role is primarily focused on Compliance but, as part of the wider function, the postholder will also be expected to provide reasonable support to Health & Safety, Systems Development and related business activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Management
- Take day-to-day ownership of the Group's Compliance function.
- Manage and coordinate compliance activities across the business.
- Maintain an effective understanding of applicable regulatory, contractual, customer, accreditation and internal requirements.
- Translate compliance requirements into practical business controls and operational processes.
- Monitor adherence to policies, procedures, contractual requirements and internal standards.
- Identify compliance gaps, weaknesses and emerging risks and coordinate appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain appropriate compliance registers, records, evidence and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance actions are clearly assigned, monitored and followed through to completion.
- Provide practical compliance advice and guidance to managers and employees.
- Escalate significant, repeated or unresolved compliance issues with appropriate recommendations for action.
Audit, Certification & Accreditation Management
- Oversee the Group's ongoing compliance with relevant standards and certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001, PAS 43, BS 10125 and other applicable standards or accreditation requirements.
- Maintain an appropriate programme of internal audits, compliance reviews and monitoring activities.
- Plan, coordinate and undertake internal compliance audits across the Group.
- Coordinate preparation for external certification, surveillance, customer and accreditation audits.
- Act as a key internal point of contact for external auditors, certification bodies, customers and assurance providers.
- Ensure the business remains appropriately prepared for scheduled audits and assessments throughout the year.
- Maintain visibility of certification, surveillance and assessment schedules and ensure relevant activities are completed within required timescales.
- Investigate audit findings, non-conformances and compliance concerns to establish underlying causes.
- Agree corrective and preventative actions with responsible managers and monitor these through to effective closure.
- Maintain appropriate audit evidence and records to demonstrate ongoing conformity and effective control.
- Monitor changes to applicable standards and requirements and coordinate implementation of necessary changes across the business.

Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop and maintain appropriate compliance monitoring arrangements.
- Produce regular compliance reports and management information.
- Identify trends, recurring issues and areas requiring management attention.
- Ensure reporting provides meaningful information, conclusions and recommendations rather than simply presenting data.
- Track outstanding actions and challenge overdue or inadequate responses.
- Provide appropriate assurance and visibility of compliance performance to senior management.
BS 10125 & Bodyshop Compliance
- Take day-to-day ownership of the Group's BS 10125 compliance requirements and associated bodyshop standards.
- Maintain oversight of ongoing compliance across applicable bodyshop sites.
- Ensure required standards, processes, records, competency information and evidence are maintained.
- Coordinate BS 10125 audits, surveillance visits, assessments and associated corrective actions.
- Work closely with Bodyshop Managers and operational teams to ensure requirements are understood and embedded within day-to-day operations.
- Identify non-conformances, compliance gaps and areas of risk and ensure corrective actions are taken through to effective closure.
- Monitor changes to BS 10125 and relevant bodyshop, customer and industry requirements.
- Maintain year-round compliance rather than focusing solely on preparation for external audits.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring compliance issues and opportunities to improve controls, processes and working practices.
- Work collaboratively with operational managers to develop practical and proportionate solutions.
- Support improvements to policies, procedures, systems and processes where compliance requirements identify a need for change.
- Promote a culture of accountability, compliance and continuous improvement throughout the Group.

About You We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and comfortable taking ownership. You will need to be able to manage routine compliance matters independently, coordinate activity across departments and recognise when significant risks or issues require senior management involvement.
You should have:
- Previous experience within compliance, quality, risk, governance or a similar environment.
- Experience managing or taking significant ownership of compliance activities.
- Strong internal auditing and compliance monitoring experience.
- Experience working with formal management systems, certifications or accreditation frameworks.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- The ability to interpret standards, regulations and contractual requirements and translate them into practical actions.
- Experience investigating non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
- Confidence communicating with managers and employees at all levels.
- The ability to challenge constructively and ensure agreed actions are completed.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Sound judgement and a practical, solution-focused approach.
- Strong IT skills and a willingness to learn and support business systems.
Desirable Experience Experience in any of the following would be particularly beneficial:
- ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and PAS 43.
- BS 10125 and automotive bodyshop compliance.
- Automotive, insurance, accident management, breakdown or related service environments.
- Working directly with external auditors, certification bodies or accreditation providers.
- Customer and supplier assurance audits.
- Producing compliance management information and reporting.
- Relevant Compliance, Quality, Risk, Audit or Health & Safety qualifications.
