Compliance Manager – Local Authority

Contract: 3–6 months
Day Rate: £500 per day Umbrella
Location: Morden
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days from home

This is a senior property compliance role with responsibility for ensuring a large and varied property portfolio remains compliant with all relevant statutory, regulatory and best-practice requirements. Please note: candidates must have previous Local Authority / Council experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery of property compliance across a diverse portfolio.
  • Oversee statutory compliance programmes, inspections, testing and remedial works.
  • Manage and monitor external compliance contractors and consultants.
  • Develop and maintain effective compliance processes, policies and tracking systems.
  • Ensure accurate compliance records, certification and data are maintained.
  • Conduct audits and inspections and identify areas requiring corrective action.
  • Produce clear performance, risk and compliance reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Develop KPIs and monitor contractor performance and service delivery.
  • Manage compliance-related procurement and contract management activity.

About You

  • Recent and demonstrable experience working within a Local Authority / Council environment.
  • Significant experience in property compliance, facilities management governance, health & safety or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance across areas such as gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, water hygiene and lifts.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants and compliance specialists.
  • Experience overseeing a varied and complex property portfolio.
