COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Manchester | Regulatory Compliance | Financial Services Background Preferred

If your compliance career has been built in financial services and you know the difference between protecting a business and slowing one down, this role is worth a closer look.

Our law firm client is operating at serious scale, currently managing more than 300,000 active consumer claims with further growth ahead.

At that level, compliance cannot sit on the sidelines checking policies after the event.

It has to be embedded into how the business operates.

We are looking for a Compliance Manager who can identify risk early, strengthen controls, challenge where necessary and help a fast-moving regulated business continue to scale without allowing risk to scale with it.

This is not a box-ticking compliance role.

You will have genuine influence across the business, working closely with senior leadership, legal and operational teams across areas including:

  • Regulatory compliance and risk
  • Internal controls and governance
  • Complaints and root-cause analysis
  • Policies, processes and operating procedures
  • Compliance reviews and audits
  • Regulatory reporting
  • Management information and emerging risk
  • Compliance training and guidance
  • Identifying control failures and ensuring they are properly resolved

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This role sits at the heart of protecting the organisation.

Your judgement will directly influence regulatory exposure, financial and reputational risk, client outcomes and the organisation’s ability to continue growing sustainably.

WHO WE WANT

We are particularly interested in people whose compliance experience has been gained within financial services or another highly regulated consumer environment.

That could include:

  • Banking
  • Consumer Credit
  • Lending
  • Motor Finance
  • Insurance
  • Payments
  • Fintech
  • Claims Management
  • Other FCA-regulated businesses

You do not need to have spent your career within a law firm.

What matters is that you understand what good compliance looks like inside a high-volume regulated organisation and can translate regulation into practical controls that actually work.

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Understands regulatory risk rather than simply policy
  • Has strong experience of controls, governance and compliance monitoring
  • Can analyse complaints, incidents and management information to identify underlying problems
  • Knows how to investigate issues and get to the root cause
  • Is comfortable challenging senior stakeholders
  • Can make informed decisions rather than simply escalating problems
  • Understands the relationship between compliance, customer outcomes and commercial risk
  • Can operate effectively when volumes are high and the business is moving quickly
  • Takes ownership of issues from identification through investigation, remediation and closure

Most importantly, you will be commercially pragmatic.

The objective is not compliance for compliance’s sake.

It is to protect the business, strengthen its controls and allow it to grow confidently.

WHY THIS ROLE?

Because at this scale, compliance decisions have consequences.

A control improvement here does not affect ten customers.

It could influence the management of hundreds of thousands of claims.

You will have real visibility with senior leadership and the opportunity to influence how compliance, governance and risk develop as the organisation continues to grow.

If you have built your career in financial services compliance and are interested in bringing that experience into a high-volume legal environment where your judgement will genuinely matter, we would be interested in speaking with you.
