Nest Invest is regulated as an Occupational Pension Scheme (OPS) firm by the FCA. The compliance function supports Nest Invest to comply with regulation arising from its status as an OPS firm. Nest Invest currently falls under the FCA’s core Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Compliance, the Compliance Manager will act as a trusted business partner, providing practical regulatory advice and supporting the ongoing development of a pragmatic and business aligned compliance culture across Nest Invest.
This role is focused on the advisory and operational side of compliance rather than monitoring. The successful individual will play a key role in ensuring that regulatory obligations are implemented effectively, embedded into business processes and clearly understood across the organisation.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will provide compliance input into strategic initiatives, business change projects and day to day activities, helping colleagues navigate regulatory requirements in a proportionate and commercial manner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery and ongoing operation of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR), ensuring all BAU requirements are completed accurately and on time
- Drafting and coordinating FCA regulatory returns, reporting and regulatory submissions
- Producing high quality compliance reporting for senior management, committees and governance forums
- Managing Personal Account Dealing processes and employee requests
- Owning and maintaining conflicts of interest registers and related processes
- Managing gifts and hospitality oversight and associated compliance controls
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Consumer Duty framework
- Providing compliance advice on business projects, change initiatives and new opportunities
- Delivering compliance communications, presentations and training sessions across the organisation
- Conducting regulatory horizon scanning and helping the business respond to emerging regulatory developments
- Supporting wider compliance activities and contributing to a collaborative and high performing compliance function
- Providing support on financial crime matters where required, although this is not a specialist financial crime role

The Person
This is an incredibly exciting time in Nest Invest’s future growth agenda and evolution. The successful Compliance Manager will play a key role in helping to shape our approach to demonstrating FCA compliance as we become more sophisticated and specialised as an Asset Manager. We are looking for:
- Experience within an FCA regulated environment, ideally investment management, asset management, pensions or wider financial services
- Practical experience supporting SMCR processes and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of FCA reporting requirements and broader UK regulatory expectations
- Experience providing compliance advice and guidance to business stakeholders
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Comfortable delivering training, facilitating discussions and influencing colleagues at all levels
- Ability to interpret regulation and translate requirements into pragmatic business solutions
- Well organised, structured and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
- An inquisitive mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively when appropriate
- Collaborative and team oriented approach coupled with a genuine willingness to roll up sleeves and deliver
- High levels of energy, enthusiasm and personal accountability

Directorate/Department Overview
The Investment directorate (Nest Invest) is responsible for investing members’ contributions in order to grow their retirement pots over the long-term. The responsibilities of the team include:
- Asset allocation and portfolio risk management
- Manager selection and monitoring
- Responsible investment
- Investment communications
- Fund administration
- Investment technology and financial modelling
- Contributing to the development of the investment proposition
From December 2019, the Nest Investment team was seconded into Nest Invest Ltd (Nest Invest), the investment subsidiary of Nest Corporation.
Nest Invest is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). For the role holder, this means working in a regulated entity, and being required to adhere to certain rules and behaviours included in the FCA’s Code of Conduct (COCON), specifically the individual Conduct Rules defined by the FCA.
