Compliance Manager

📍 West Ham, London
⏰ 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
📅 Start Date: ASAP
📌 Duration: Ongoing
💼 Freelance initially, with potential to move to PAYE

TEXO Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Compliance Manager to join a growing business in West Ham, London. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on compliance professional who is a strong all-rounder, with experience across Health & Safety and Environmental compliance.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the company's existing systems, processes, and accreditations, ensuring they remain compliant and effective while identifying opportunities to improve and develop them as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of existing compliance systems, processes, and accreditations.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the company's compliance framework.
  • Manage Health & Safety and Environmental compliance across the business.
  • Ensure relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards are understood and adhered to.
  • Review and update policies, procedures, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain existing accreditations and support preparation for audits.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and ensure systems and procedures are updated accordingly.
  • Work closely with management and operational teams to promote a strong compliance culture.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance on compliance matters.
  • Develop and strengthen the compliance function as the company continues to grow.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a Compliance, QHSE, HSEQ, or Health & Safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Experience managing compliance systems and accreditations.
  • A good understanding of company processes, procedures, and risk management.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to compliance.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of the compliance function.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Experience within a growing engineering, industrial, or similar business would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This role would ideally suit someone looking for a freelance/contract opportunity initially, with the potential for the position to develop into a permanent PAYE role for the right person. This is an opportunity to take ownership of an existing compliance function, build on the company's current systems and accreditations, and play a key role in developing the business as it continues to grow.
