What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and manage compliance across Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), air quality monitoring and water sampling, ensuring regulatory and company standards are consistently maintained.
  • Oversee LEV testing, examination and maintenance, working with site teams, competent persons, maintenance teams and external contractors.
  • Monitor and report on compliance KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving continuous improvement across the contract.
  • Act as the key point of contact for occupational hygiene, including hazardous substance risk assessments, COSHH assessments and exposure control.
  • Investigate and report on LEV failures, exposure exceedances and legal non-conformities, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support environmental and sustainability compliance, including air emissions, water discharge, hazardous waste and environmental monitoring.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience managing LEV systems and environmental monitoring within a large or complex organisation, with a track record of delivering improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of COSHH regulations, HSE HSG258, occupational exposure limits and hazardous substance control.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of LEV system design, testing and maintenance, alongside air and water sampling methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, control hierarchy and regulatory compliance, with the ability to investigate and resolve non-conformances.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, project management and continuous improvement skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or memberships, ideally including NEBOSH, BOHS/AFOH or IOSH, with relevant occupational hygiene and LEV qualifications.
