About the role:

The Compliance Manager is a key Second Line role providing independent oversight and trusted advisory support across the bank. You will play a critical role in shaping the bank’s approach to conduct and regulatory risk, partnering with senior stakeholders to embed a strong and sustainable compliance culture as Oxbury continues to scale.

You'll ensure the Compliance framework is risk-based and effective in giving the business and management insight on conduct and regulatory risks, acting as an escalation point for compliance issues, liaising with the wider business areas as necessary.

Role scope:

  • Reports to the Head of Operational Risk.
  • Regular interaction with the ExCo, Operational Risk and Conduct Committee, senior business leads.
  • Ownership of Compliance monitoring framework, quality assurance methodology and regulatory advisory across key business areas.
  • Acts as Second line compliance SME and escalation point for regulatory matters.

Oversight & Monitoring

  • Completion and management of the Compliance Monitoring Plan, ensuring compliance/risk-based coverage and insight-led output.
  • Provide independent assessment of key controls and thematic risks.
  • Assess adherence to regulation.

Advisory & Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted advisor on regulatory matters, including new products, change initiatives and conduct risk.
  • Support interpretation of FCA requirements ensuring clear translation into practical business application and advice.

Governance & Risk Insight

  • Produce high-quality MI and insights for governance forums, identifying emerging compliance risks and trends.
  • Support regulatory change management and horizon scanning actions.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Experience operating in a Second Line function.
  • Exposure to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience (ideally 3 years +) of working in a compliance role or similar within the Banking industry.
  • Experience providing independent challenge and feedback.
  • Industry recognised qualification.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations including BCOBS, CONC, DISP, Consumer Duty and Conduct Risk.
  • Horizon scanning experience.
