This is a senior, hands-on position with ownership of the Compliance Monitoring Programme. An initial framework, methodology, and monitoring plan are already in place, but the successful candidate will be encouraged to review, refine, and improve the approach.
You will be responsible for prioritising and delivering the monitoring plan, conducting reviews, producing clear reports, and ensuring agreed remedial actions are properly implemented and evidenced.

- Review and prioritise monitoring activity based on regulatory, operational, and business risk.
- Scope and deliver thematic reviews, deep dives, file testing, and cyclical monitoring.
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of compliance controls.
- Produce clear, evidence-based monitoring reports for senior stakeholders.
- Identify control weaknesses, root causes, and appropriate remedial actions.
- Agree actions and realistic delivery dates with business owners.
- Track findings through to completion and validate closure evidence.
- Ensure monitoring remains aligned with regulatory developments, Internal Audit findings, and organisational change.
- Develop meaningful compliance monitoring MI and reporting.
- Work collaboratively with Compliance, Risk, and first-line business functions.
- Provide constructive challenge while maintaining second-line independence.
- Continuously improve the monitoring framework and supporting documentation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Previous Lloyd’s managing agency experience would be highly advantageous. However, candidates from broader insurance, reinsurance, or broking environments will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong monitoring methodology and delivery experience.
This opportunity would suit an experienced compliance monitoring professional looking to take genuine ownership of a programme while working across a complex and evolving international insurance business.
