Ascent Flight Training (Management) Ltd
Competitive Salary Full-time Permanent
The Compliance Monitoring Manager leads the independent assurance of Ascent's activities, providing the Head of Quality, Cont. Improvement & Risk, the Leadership Team and our customer with confidence that training delivery, training design and supporting business processes comply with regulatory, contractual and internal requirements. The role owns the Compliance Monitoring Programme end to end, setting the risk-based audit and oversight schedule, leading the audit team, managing the organisation's interface with regulators and certification bodies, and turning compliance evidence into insight that drives improvement.
For Ascent’s civil continuing airworthiness activity, the postholder is the nominated Compliance Monitoring Manager under UK Part-CAMO (CAMO.A.305(a)(4)), accepted by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and named in the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME).
Day to day:
- Compliance Monitoring Programme. Own and deliver the annual, risk-based compliance monitoring and internal audit programme across all five sites and every applicable regulatory regime.
- Regulatory compliance position. Maintain a current, evidenced compliance position against MAA Regulatory Articles, ISO 9001:2015, JSP 822/DSAT and contractual requirements, including the compliance register and demonstration framework.
- External oversight and certification. Lead Ascent's preparation for, and response to, MAA, customer, certification body and partner audits — protecting and strengthening our approvals and certification.
- Findings and corrective action. Ensure findings are root-caused, actioned and verified as effective within agreed timescales, and escalate systemic or overdue issues through quality governance.
- Assurance interfaces. Manage the split accountability between Ascent's directly controlled management system and partner-held regulatory approvals, ensuring assurance boundaries are clear, coordinated and gap-free.
- Governance and reporting. Provide compliance performance, trend analysis and assurance opinion to management review, safety governance and Executive forums.
- Audit capability. Lead, develop and quality-assure the audit team, maintaining auditor competence in line with the Lead Auditor Handbook and competency pathway.
- Part-CAMO post holder. Act as the UK CAA-accepted Compliance Monitoring Manager, managing the CAMO.A.200(a)(6) compliance monitoring function independently of continuing airworthiness management, with direct access to the Accountable Manager.
- Improvement and culture. Convert assurance insight into improvement, share good practice & champion an open, just & audit-ready culture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
