Compliance Officer - Building Maintenance (Social Housing)
Location: Buxton, Derbyshire
Salary: £32,572.07
Hours: 37 Hours per week

Alliance Norse is a partnership between Norse Group and High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The Joint Venture (JV) company was formed in 2022 to provide a number of services to the two Council’s.
Alliance Norse are currently recruiting for a compliance officer to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Role Overview
As the Building Maintenance Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance across housing and public buildings. This includes conducting audits, quality inspections, and verifying that all inspections, reports, and certifications meet regulatory and company standards. This also involves maintaining accurate compliance records, liaising with contractors and internal teams, managing compliance documentation, regulatory reporting, and overseeing building fabric maintenance. Ensuring adherence to compliance requirements and addressing any arising issues promptly is essential.

- Compliance Checks: Conduct routine inspections and compliance checks at various sites to ensure adherence to health and safety, fire safety, and environmental regulations.
- Documentation and Records: Accurately complete and maintain compliance documentation. Update records and systems to reflect the current compliance status of all properties.
- Contractor Coordination: Collaborate with external contractors to ensure timely completion of compliance works and cyclical maintenance. Verify adherence to safety standards and contract terms.
- Legal and Enforcement Support: Assist in preparing legal documents for court proceedings related to compliance issues. Produce and serve abatement notices, letters, and certificates of service. Liaise with legal professionals as needed.
- Customer Service: Handle inquiries and complaints from tenants, councillors, and the public regarding compliance matters. Arrange appointments and address concerns while maintaining high standards of service.
Our Successful Candidate
- Education: HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A-C or equivalent).
- Experience: Experience in a compliance-related role within housing or public buildings is essential. Demonstrated experience in a customer-focused environment is advantageous.
- Certifications: Relevant health and safety certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate. CSCS Card, First Aid Certification, Fire Marshal training.
- Knowledge: Understanding of building regulations, health and safety standards, and compliance practices. Knowledge of landlord obligations and Right to Repair regulations.
- Full UK driving licence
