Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Job Description:

The Role: Please note this is an office-based role.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented office-based Mortgage Compliance Officer to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional with experience within the mortgage and financial services sector to play a key role in maintaining regulatory standards, supporting advisers, and ensuring good customer outcomes.

You will work closely with senior management, advisers, and case managers to ensure all mortgage business is conducted in line with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements, company procedures, and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre and post-sale file reviews for first charge, second charge, and buy-to-let mortgage cases.
  • Monitor adviser compliance with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, and company policies.
  • Identify, investigate, and report compliance breaches and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to advisers to improve file quality and compliance standards.
  • Assist with Training & Competence (T&C) monitoring and adviser development.
  • Review financial promotions, websites, social media content, and marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
  • Support the completion of compliance reports and management information.
  • Maintain compliance registers, policy documents, and regulatory records.
  • Monitor complaints, root cause analysis, and customer outcomes.
  • Conduct audits of sales processes, documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Assist with vulnerability, data protection, anti-money laundering, and Consumer Duty monitoring.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments and communicate changes to the wider business.

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a mortgage compliance, quality assurance, or risk role.
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA mortgage regulations and Consumer Duty.
  • Understanding of mortgage advice processes and suitability requirements.
  • Experience conducting mortgage file reviews.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and provide clear feedback.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Experience within a mortgage brokerage or network.
  • Knowledge of second charge mortgages (Homeowner loans).
  • CeMAP qualification.
  • Experience with Training & Competence frameworks.
  • Understanding of financial promotions compliance.
  • Knowledge of vulnerable customer requirements and complaint handling processes.
