Compliance Officer (COLP & COFA) — Full or Part Time with options to take on Director and/or Fee-Earning responsibilities | LF Legal — London (Hybrid/Remote Available) Immediate Start
LF Legal, a London-based Alternative Business Structure (ABS) providing legal and ancillary services since 2000, is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to take on the combined roles of Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA).
This can be a standalone regulatory position, ideal for someone looking to focus on compliance and governance within an established, multi-disciplinary legal practice. Full time or part time arrangements will be considered. For candidates seeking a broader role, there are also options to take on Director responsibilities and/or fee-earning work, either alongside the compliance role or as the practice's needs and the candidate's interests dictate.

About the Role
As COLP and COFA, you will hold ultimate responsibility for ensuring the firm's compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations, together with our accounts and financial management obligations under the SRA Accounts Rules. This is a dedicated regulatory role, working closely with the firm's Directors and staff to embed a strong culture of compliance across the practice. The role can be scoped as regulatory-only, or combined with Director and/or fee-earning responsibilities depending on the candidate's experience and preference.

Key Responsibilities
As COLP:
- Ensuring the firm and its employees comply with the terms of its SRA authorisation and the SRA Standards and Regulations
- Reporting material breaches to the SRA as required
- Overseeing risk management, compliance monitoring, and internal policies and procedures
- Supporting training and supervision on regulatory and ethical standards across the practice
As COFA:
- Ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and financial regulatory requirements
- Overseeing client account management and financial controls
- Reporting material financial breaches to the SRA as required
- Working with the finance team to maintain robust accounting systems and procedures
General Compliance:
- Maintaining and updating the firm's compliance policies, procedures, and registers
- Conducting internal audits and compliance reviews
- Advising on AML, data protection, and other regulatory obligations
- Acting as a point of contact for regulatory queries from staff and external bodies
Optional — Director Responsibilities (for candidates seeking a broader role):
- Contributing to firm strategy, business planning, and governance as a Director of the ABS
- Participating in Board/leadership decision-making alongside existing Directors
- Representing the firm in a leadership capacity with clients, regulators, and external stakeholders
Optional — Fee-Earning Responsibilities (for candidates wishing to maintain a caseload):
- Handling a caseload within one or more of the firm's practice areas (e.g. Company Commercial, Immigration, Employment, or another area matching your expertise)
- Advising and representing clients in your specialist area alongside your compliance duties
- Contributing to business development within your practice area

About You
- Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive, or equivalent, with relevant compliance experience (PQE flexible depending on experience)
- Prior experience acting as COLP and/or COFA is highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations and SRA Accounts Rules
- Comfortable working independently in a dedicated regulatory capacity
- For those interested in the Director option: confidence in taking on broader business and leadership responsibility
- For those interested in fee-earning work: relevant specialist experience in one of our practice areas
- Excellent judgement, integrity, and attention to detail
- Available for an immediate start
