GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for Compliance Officer (Gas) who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

Purpose of this role

To provide assurance that Gas Networks activities are delivered safely, compliantly, competently, and to the required quality standards through auditing, monitoring, investigation, coaching, and engagement with operational teams and contractors.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

  • The delivery of technical, competency and quality audits across Gas Networks activities to ensure compliance with safety, technical and quality standards.
  • Conducting compliance monitoring, desktop audits and documentation reviews, identifying non-conformances, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitoring and reporting audit findings, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out effectively.
  • Providing assurance of contractor compliance, competence and performance, including onboarding and documentation checks.
  • Supporting competency assessments, compliance systems and the development of policies, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coaching operational teams and support investigations into incidents, technical failures and safety events, producing evidence-based findings and recommendations.
  • Any other duties as required by the manager.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience within the gas industry.
  • Knowledge of gas distribution asset management, operational procedures and practices.
  • Understanding of safe systems of work, compliance and quality assurance principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical standards, procedures, engineering documentation and guidance.

Abilities/Skills

  • Strong technical ability and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical, evidence-led approach.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, report-writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively and prioritise risk-based activity.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and professionally and build positive working relationships.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Reliable, organised and able to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Able to recognise when issues require escalation or management oversight.

Desirable

  • SHEA-G Card.
  • EngTech registration or actively working towards Professional registration.
  • Management, Coaching Qualification or Auditor Qualification.
  • Experience undertaking audits, inspections, quality monitoring activities or competency assessments.
  • Exposure to RIDDOR, DSEAR or related compliance frameworks.
  • Presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Technically curious and willing to learn and develop further in a regulated environment.

Conditions of Employment

  • You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to going into customers’ homes.
  • You will hold a driving licence.
