Our enthusiastic and ambitious staff work out of offices in Central Manchester and Central London, with hybrid working options available. Colleagues typically work from home four days a week, with one day in the office.

Main Purpose & Scope Of Job:
Providing compliance expertise and insight across the organisation, through creating member resources and communications content, training colleagues and supporting the development of NRLA initiatives, products and services.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance work – members/external
- Work with the Head of compliance to ensure all our member guidance is kept up to date and accurate.
- Review content on the page for accuracy and improvements on a quarterly basis and ensure they meet brand style.
- Review templates regularly and update as required.
- Identify innovative new content to meet our members needs and draft this where required.
- Horizon scan for new guide requirements by researching upcoming legislative changes and identify opportunities and threats.
- Write and produce member-targeted content for use on NRLA communications channels.
- Work with internal communications and marketing teams to produce video guides and infographics for our members and social media.
- Identify innovative opportunities to use AI to develop interactive tools to support our members, and work with relevant colleagues to realise this.
- Present at external events and meetings to share detailed legislative information with our members to support their compliance.

Internal Compliance Work
- Proactively develop relationships with internal colleagues across different departments and teams:
- Work as an internal business partner with specified teams to ensure the team is appraised of any upcoming changes and developments.
- Identify potential risks to the organisation
- Ensure NRLA projects are compliant with relevant housing legislation from initiation through to implementation
- Provide guidance on how to remain compliant with the latest housing law legislation
- Provide final review for content to ensure accuracy
- Design and deliver internal continuing professional development on housing legislation to colleagues across the business, through presentations and workshops.
Project Management
- Manage projects based around upcoming legislation, including:
- Identifying changes to legislation
- Assessing departments’ readiness for change
- Training departments on the upcoming legislation
- Project managing content changes across departments to ensure all content is accurate
- Utilising basic project management tools to ensure work is tracked, communicated internally and completed on time.
- Provide insight and support for any other policy and research activities as required by the organisation.
- Complete regular reporting on activities and status of projects.

Support NRLA Policy Development
- Work with the Policy and Public Affairs team to inform and advise on the development of NRLA policy related to the private rented sector, and our campaigning. This includes contributing the consultation responses and where relevant (eg technical consultations) leading on drafting.
- Where relevant, attend external stakeholder meetings eg government meetings on the development of guidance on new legislation for landlords.
- Build and sustain relationships with relevant external stakeholders where required.
- Provide additional support to the team as may be required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent academic qualification in Law
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Confident working with other teams and departments
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good project management skills
- Ability to produce written content to short deadlines
- Able to work independently.
Experience
Essential
- Interest in the law and legal research
- Experience of writing and/or presenting for internal or external audiences.
- Experience working with other teams to ensure their content is accurate and legally sound.
Desirable
- Experience in a housing-related compliance role
- Experience of working with and/or developing AI tools.
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of Office365 apps.
- Understanding of how legislation is developed and where to research updates to legislation
- Excellent knowledge of the housing law related to renting
- Awareness of devolution and resulting impact on housing policy
Personal Attributes and Other Requirements
- Capable of working from home
- Occasional travel to meetings, events and conferences
- Prepared to work with and learn appropriate AI tools.
