Job Description

Job Title: Component Repair Lead / Compliance Verification Engineer - Repair Design

Location: Derby

Working Pattern: Full Time

As a Component Repair Lead / Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) - Repair Design, you will provide technical leadership in the development, verification and approval of repair solutions for service-run components across the Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace engine portfolio.

Working within our MRO Component Repair organisation, you will be part of an experienced engineering team supporting repair activity across our global network. You will assess component damage and non-conformance, determine whether components can be safely returned to service, and define technically robust repair solutions that meet engineering and airworthiness requirements.

This is a senior technical role rather than a people-management position. You will use your repair design and aero-engine experience to make engineering decisions, lead technical solutions and provide guidance on complex component repair challenges. You will work closely with Design Engineers, Product Definers, Materials and Repair Technology specialists, MRO teams and repair suppliers to ensure solutions maintain the required form, fit, function and integrity of the product.

You will also operate as, or work towards accreditation as, a Compliance Verification Engineer, providing independent verification of repair definitions, Technical Variances and associated technical documentation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Component Repair Lead / Compliance Verification Engineer, you will lead the development and technical assurance of repair solutions for Civil Aerospace components. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and substantiating repair definitions for service-run components, assessing damage and non-conformance and determining technically feasible repair limits, including dressing geometry, allowable material removal and appropriate manufacturing or laboratory processes.
  • Providing technical leadership for repair design solutions, ensuring engineering, design, material, manufacturing, certification and airworthiness requirements are understood, verified and appropriately recorded throughout the development and implementation of a repair.
  • Defining validation and verification requirements for repair methods and demonstrating technical equivalence where existing repair methods, processes or sources are changed.
  • Reviewing and approving technical documentation, including Technical Variances, repair manual revisions and other repair-related engineering definitions in the capacity of a Compliance Verification Engineer where authorised.
  • Working across the Civil Aerospace and global MRO network, collaborating with Design Engineering, Product Definition, Repair Technology, manufacturing teams, suppliers and contractors to identify new repair opportunities, close technology gaps and consistently deliver repair revisions, manual revisions, tooling changes and urgent technical requests.

Who We’re Looking For

At Rolls-Royce, we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles guide us and are an essential part of our assessment process.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. A relevant degree is an essential requirement for this position.
  • Significant experience within the aero-engine industry, ideally within Repair Design, Component Repair, Overhaul Services or a closely related discipline, with substantial knowledge of Rolls-Royce engines or experience gained within a comparable aero-engine organisation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gas turbine components and systems, including the impact that component repairs and non-conformances can have on the wider engine system, together with a good understanding of materials, manufacturing and repair processes.
  • Demonstrable experience developing or assessing repair solutions and applying relevant airworthiness, certification, regulatory, engineering and industry requirements. Previous CVE experience, equivalent compliance verification responsibility or experience suitable for progression towards Rolls-Royce CVE accreditation would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to make sound engineering decisions, manage multiple priorities and work effectively with internal teams, global customers, suppliers and contractors.
  • Experience with data analytics and tools such as Power BI to assess operational effectiveness.
