Job Description: Composites Technician

The composites technician will be engaged in a variety of processes in the production and creation of materials and components that are used in aerospace and space applications. They will provide support R&D and manufacturing programs and projects, in the areas of design, tooling, moulding, lay-up, curing, machining, inspection, testing, repair, and material production.

The role will be based at our facility in Farnborough.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Select appropriate techniques, procedures, and methods to undertake part manufacture
  • Identify and select materials
  • Prepare tooling
  • Manufacture components
  • Select appropriate consumables required to ensure satisfactory progress and completion of projects and/or manufacturing programs, in conjunction with any relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • Read and understand technical drawings for part manufacture
  • Laminate geometrically complex parts
  • Operate machinery associated with laminating and automated manufacture
  • Carry out maintenance to machines or equipment to comply with preventative maintenance plans
  • Assist and advise in the planning and preparation of manufacturing programs and research projects to ensure they meet customer requirements and schedules
  • Understand and follow work instructions and complete documentation in line with ISO9001 quality procedures
  • Inspecting and measuring parts using tools such as FARO arm to verify dimensions, tolerances, and physical characteristics against engineering drawings or specifications
  • Conducting visual inspections to identify defects, surface imperfections, or deviations from standards

Qualifications

  • A recognised Level 3 Engineering qualification
  • Experience with composite materials
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards
