Computational Biology & AI Internship

About Lyna
Lyna is looking for a curious and driven Computational Biology Intern to join our team and work at the intersection of AI, biology, and computational science. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience applying computational methods to real-world biological problems while working in a fast-moving, research-oriented environment.
What You’ll Do
- Apply computational and statistical methods to biological and biomedical datasets
- Analyze, clean, and visualize biological data
- Develop and improve computational workflows for biological research
- Explore applications of AI/ML to genomics, drug discovery, or other areas of computational biology
- Work with tools and programming languages such as Python and relevant bioinformatics libraries
- Conduct literature reviews and translate scientific findings into computational approaches
- Collaborate with the team to design experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings
- Document analyses, methodologies, and results clearly

What We’re Looking For
- Strong interest in computational biology, bioinformatics, AI, or related fields
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science, biotechnology, or a related discipline
- Comfortable with Python and/or R
- Basic understanding of statistics, data analysis, and biological concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Self-starter who enjoys learning new technologies and experimenting with ideas
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Skills
- Experience with machine learning or deep learning
- Familiarity with genomics, transcriptomics, or other omics datasets
- Experience with tools such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Biopython, or similar
- Knowledge of biological databases and computational pipelines
- Experience with Git/GitHub
- Research experience or previous computational biology projects

Compensation
This is an unpaid internship. The role is intended to provide practical experience, mentorship, and portfolio-building opportunities. Any future paid opportunity would be based on performance, project needs, and mutual fit.
