ROLE OVERVIEW:

Are you a passionate Senior Level Computational Chemist looking to make a significant impact in the field of drug discovery? A leading biotech organisation in the Cambridge area is seeking a talented strategic and people leader to join their dynamic team. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects in a collaborative and innovative environment, where your contributions can directly influence the development of new therapies for neurological disorders and oncology.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as Director - Computational Chemist will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Contribute to oversee the development and application of the internal simulation platform, with a particular focus on free energy and related molecular simulation approaches.
  • Develop and apply advanced molecular simulation and free energy methods to guide compound design.
  • Collaborate closely with medicinal chemistry and structural biology teams to integrate computational approaches.
  • Validate novel methods against high-quality experimental datasets.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as Computational Chemistry Director, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

  • PhD in Computational Chemistry or a related field.
  • Proven industry experience in developing and/or applying modern simulation methods (e.g., FEP/TI) in a drug discovery context.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills, ideally in Python, with an interest in developing robust, scalable workflows.
  • Evidence of scientific leadership and strategic influence.
