We are partnering with a leading global investment firm building the next generation of research and trading infrastructure. They are seeking a Compute Engineering Lead to own and scale a world-class on-premises compute platform supporting investment professionals, quantitative researchers, and engineering teams across the business.
This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position responsible for the strategy, architecture, and evolution of the firm's compute environment. Working closely with senior business stakeholders, Portfolio Managers, researchers, and engineering teams, you will drive the delivery of a scalable, resilient platform that sits at the core of the investment process.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the firm's compute infrastructure function.
- Design, build, and scale large-scale bare metal compute environments.
- Drive the architecture, implementation, and governance of Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
- Partner closely with researchers, Portfolio Managers, and development teams to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions.
- Improve platform reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Own disaster recovery and business continuity planning for critical infrastructure.
- Participate in platform support, maintenance, and on-call responsibilities.
- Mentor and develop a team of infrastructure engineers while promoting engineering best practices

Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working with large-scale compute infrastructure.
- Proven expertise operating Kubernetes environments at scale.
- Strong experience managing bare metal Linux infrastructure.
- Experience within low-latency or performance-sensitive environments.
- Deep understanding of network performance, routing, and optimisation.
- Hands-on Python development experience.
- Experience owning disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
- 5+ years of people management experience with a track record of leading high-performing engineering teams.
