5-Axis CAM Engineer – Precision Dental Milling
Biterite Dental Laboratory | North London | Full-time, permanent
Biterite is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CAM Engineer to manage the workflow of our advanced milling department.
We are a progressive, technology-led dental laboratory operating from a state-of-the-art facility in North London. Our laboratory uses advanced digital manufacturing to produce high-precision components from titanium, cobalt-chrome, zirconia and PMMA, including implant bars, custom abutments, frameworks, crowns, bridges and temporary restorations.
No previous dental experience or dental qualification is required. Full training in MillBox, our equipment, materials and dental-manufacturing applications will be provided.
The role
You will be responsible for:
- Operating and managing our five-axis milling workflow
- Importing, positioning and nesting components in MillBox
- Nesting zirconia and PMMA restorations efficiently to minimise material waste
- Positioning restorations correctly within multilayer zirconia discs
- Calculating and reviewing machining strategies and toolpaths
- Setting up and operating wet and dry milling equipment
- Managing the milling of titanium, cobalt-chrome, zirconia and PMMA
- Monitoring production and ensuring jobs are completed on schedule
- Selecting tools and managing tool life and replacement
- Inspecting completed components for accuracy and surface quality
- Performing precision fitting and post-processing of milled metalwork
- Troubleshooting machining, tooling, calibration and dimensional issues
- Reducing material waste, machine stoppages and unnecessary tool consumption
- Managing used discs, material batches and remaining stock
- Maintaining accurate production, material and quality-control records
- Working closely with our dental technicians and digital design team

About you
We are looking for someone with experience in:
- Five-axis CNC milling or multi-axis precision manufacturing
- CAM programming, nesting or toolpath optimisation
- Producing small, complex components to tight tolerances
- Tool selection, tool-life management and machining optimisation
- Machine setup, calibration and fault diagnosis
- Inspecting precision components using appropriate measuring equipment
- Managing a busy and organised manufacturing workflow
- Identifying the root cause of production and quality issues
Experience machining titanium, cobalt-chrome, engineering polymers, ceramics or composite materials would be advantageous.

Experience with MillBox, hyperDENT, SUM3D, hyperMILL, PowerMill, Mastercam or comparable CAM software would also be beneficial, but MillBox experience is not essential.
Candidates from aerospace, medical-device manufacturing, orthopaedic implants, motorsport, jewellery manufacturing or other precision-engineering environments are encouraged to apply.
