Role Description
The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician will work on-site in Kings Langley in a full-time capacity, supporting the design and production of bespoke retail furniture, display stands, reception desks, and feature walls. Day-to-day tasks include creating detailed CAD drawings, updating and modifying existing designs, and preparing manufacturing-ready plans for CNC machining, joinery, metalwork, and other workshop processes. The role involves collaborating closely with designers, project managers, and workshop teams to ensure designs are accurate, practical, and aligned with client specifications and safety standards. The CAD Technician will also maintain organized digital design files, ensure version control, and assist in resolving technical design issues that arise during production. Attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced workshop environment are essential.

Qualifications

- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and experience producing detailed technical drawings for manufacturing.
- Skills in Technical Support and Troubleshooting for design-related and basic IT issues within a workshop or office environment.
- Knowledge of Computer Maintenance and Computer Repair sufficient to support reliable use of CAD workstations and related peripherals.
- Understanding of Operating Systems (e.g., Windows) to manage software installations, updates, and system configurations used for CAD and production workflows.
- Familiarity with CNC processes, joinery, metalwork, or fabrication, and the ability to translate design concepts into practical production files.
- Strong attention to detail, spatial awareness, and the ability to interpret and apply technical specifications and industry standards.
- Effective communication skills and experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a workshop or manufacturing setting.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in CAD, engineering, product design, or a related field; prior experience in furniture, shopfitting, or manufacturing is advantageous.
