Technical Designer – CAD & Estimating
📍 West Sussex
💼 Permanent | Office-based
⏰ 37.5 hours per week
I'm currently recruiting for a Technical Designer – CAD & Estimating to join an established and growing specialist engineering/manufacturing business based in West Sussex.
This is a varied role combining CAD design, project support, administration, estimating and quotations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and commercial sides of a project.
The role
This position is roughly split between project administration/support and technical design & estimating. You'll be responsible for supporting projects from enquiry through to completion, producing CAD designs, preparing quotations and estimates, and ensuring projects are accurately costed and documented. You'll work closely with internal teams and customers, so this isn't a purely design-focused position. Commercial awareness, organisation and attention to detail are equally important.

Key responsibilities
- Producing technical drawings and designs using CAD
- Preparing quotations, estimates and project costings
- Supporting projects throughout their lifecycle
- Managing project administration and documentation
- Reviewing customer requirements and translating them into practical solutions
- Liaising with customers and internal teams
- Supporting the wider sales/project function with technical information
- Ensuring pricing and project information is accurate
- Managing multiple projects and priorities effectively
About you
We're looking for someone with a background in CAD/design who also has experience with estimating, quotations or costing.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience using CAD software
- Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing or technical environment
- Experience producing quotations, estimates or costings
- Strong commercial awareness
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Strong organisation and administration skills
- The ability to interpret technical requirements and drawings
- Good communication skills

We're open to candidates from a range of technical product, engineering and manufacturing environments, provided you have the right combination of CAD and commercial/estimating experience.

- Salary up to £42,000 depending on experience
