CNC Machinist / Programmer - Full time - Aberdeen
The role
The CNC Machinist Programmer supports company objectives by producing components safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards within an environment focused on continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and maintain CNC lathes and milling machines using Mazatrol and Haas controls.
- Review engineering drawings, instructions, blueprints and samples to identify critical dimensions and tolerances.
- Take precise measurements to support accurate cutting and shaping.
- Select the appropriate machine, tooling and settings for each task.
- Plan the correct sequence of operations to complete assignments efficiently.
- Monitor production and adjust feeds, speeds and other settings when required.
- Maintain accurate records and inventory of completed products.
- Inspect output for quality assurance and document, segregate or discard non-conforming components as appropriate.
- Identify maintenance requirements and carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workstation.
- Support colleagues and complete related tasks as required.
Research design and improvement
- Design fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet specific engineering requirements.
- Test experimental models under simulated operating conditions to support development, standardisation and design feasibility.
- Evaluate processes and procedures, recommending changes that improve efficiency, flexibility and production capability.

General responsibilities
- Follow established working practices, methods and procedures.
- Complete relevant training and development activities as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable data protection requirements.
- Comply with all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Carry out other reasonable duties consistent with the scope and responsibility of the role.
- Understand the reporting structure and work effectively with colleagues across the wider organisation.
Experience and technical knowledge
- At least five years' experience as a CNC Machinist Programmer.
- Demonstrable ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position.
- Working knowledge of CAD CAM software, particularly Fusion 360.
- Programming and operating experience with Mazak Integrex machines.
- Programming and operating experience with Mazak Slant Turn machines.
- Programming and operating experience with Mazak Quick Turn machines.
- Programming and operating experience with Haas VF series milling machines.
- Working knowledge of relevant safety protocols.

Eligibility and working environment
Applicants must hold current eligibility to work in the UK. The position is within a small, flexible organisation where team members may be asked to support a broad range of activities.
