CNC Setter Operator

Location: Birmingham (Curdworth) Salary: £14.94 + shift allowance Hours: 38 hours per week Shift Pattern (Rotating Weekly)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Setter Operator to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. The Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling, turning, and other production machinery to manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and customer specifications.

Working closely with the production and engineering teams, you will ensure machines are running efficiently, maintaining high quality standards while meeting production schedules and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC milling, turning, and other production machinery.
  • Produce precision-engineered components to engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
  • Select and install tooling, jigs, fixtures, and cutting tools.
  • Carry out tool changes, offset adjustments, and minor programme amendments where required.
  • Perform first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Ensure all components meet quality standards before progressing through production.
  • Work with Production Coordinators and Engineers to optimise cycle times and machine performance.
  • Report machine faults and production issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and full product traceability.
  • Support and assist in training colleagues where appropriate.
  • Follow production schedules and achieve daily manufacturing targets.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles.
  • Work safely at all times, following company Health & Safety procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience setting and operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating CNC Milling Centres (VMC), Vertical Machining Centres, VMG machines, or similar CNC equipment.
  • Experience carrying out tooling changes, offset adjustments, and basic programme edits.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English are desirable, with a Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship considered advantageous.

PM Shift - 20% Shift Allowance Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm Friday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
