CAD/CAM Engineer / Machining Engineer (Contract)
Somerset | 6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £35-£40 per hour
Are you an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer with strong Edgecam programming expertise?
A leading precision machining manufacturer in Somerset is seeking a Contract CAD/CAM Engineer / Machining Engineer to support a busy production programme supplying complex components to the aerospace and defence sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded engineering business, working on technically challenging projects in a modern precision machining environment.
The Role
As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and optimising CNC machining programs, supporting production efficiency and ensuring the successful manufacture of high-precision components.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing CNC programs using Edgecam
- Developing machining strategies for complex aerospace and defence components
- Supporting production teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting
- Optimising cycle times and machining processes
- Assisting with tooling selection and manufacturing improvements
- Interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models
- Supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives

About You
We're keen to speak with individuals who have:
- Proven experience as a CAD/CAM Engineer, CNC Programmer, Manufacturing Engineer or Machining Engineer
- Strong working knowledge of Edgecam
- Experience within a precision machining environment
- Understanding of CNC milling and/or turning processes
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience working to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards
- Aerospace, defence, motorsport or other highly regulated industry experience would be advantageous
