Join the dynamic and collaborative team at Katalyst Data Management (KDM)! KDM is seeking a Computer Operator with an understanding of subsurface media types and formats. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in achieving the company’s goals. Qualified candidates will bring strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a great attitude.

  • Located in Sittingbourne, Kent UK
  • Full-time position, Monday - Friday
  • 2nd shift: 1:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • 12% Shift Differential

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate transcription of E&P data from various media types to digital storage, as well as the outputting of digital data to other media types. The Computer Operator requires a basic knowledge of subsurface data and media formats along with the ability to understand and comply with the individual requirements of each client and project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily goals, as set by supervisor and team lead, are met.
  • Distinguish between various data formats and media types in order to format/convert subsurface data.
  • Transcribe data using various media, drives and software.
  • QC subsurface data against media labels and indexed information.
  • Initiate communication with computer operator, team lead to report and solve problems related to data or jobs.
  • Provide client services support by outputting data to specified media in specified format and labeling media according to job requirements.
  • Update the Work Management Tool with comments and billing information for each job.
  • Use tape cleaning devices to clean tapes (9-tracks) prior to reading.
  • Report hardware or tape issues to group via rt ticket system email.

Skills Required:

  • Safety first mentality.
  • Oral and written communication proficiency.
  • Basic understanding of subsurface media types and formats.
  • Interacts with people effectively. Able and willing to share and receive information. Co-operates within the group and across groups with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness. Shows concern for all aspects of the job and follows up on work outputs.
  • Takes personal responsibility for job performance and adheres to commitments

Required Education and Experience

  • Completion of secondary education (GCSEs or equivalent).
  • At least three (3) years working in the E&P industry or related computer science experience.
  • Knowledge of E&P Data Management requirements and expectations.
  • Knowledge of SEG formats and media types.

Monday - Friday, 1:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
