Computer Vision & Applied AI Engineer, focused on applying Vision AI Models for Drone Data.

📍 West London, UK

We’re looking for a Computer Vision & Applied AI Engineer to help build the next generation of intelligent inspection technology.

At Hammer Missions, we use drones, LiDAR, 3D cameras and AI to transform how buildings and infrastructure are inspected, understood and maintained. Our platform converts real-world visual and spatial data into accurate digital models and actionable insights, enabling engineering teams to carry out inspections more safely, efficiently and intelligently.

Our software is already used by engineering firms around the world. As we expand our product, engineering team and presence in the US market, we’re looking for an engineer who wants to take meaningful ownership of our computer vision and AI systems.

This is not a narrowly defined research role. You will work across model development, 3D data processing, software engineering and production deployment. You will help shape the technical roadmap, turn ideas into real products and build systems that solve difficult problems in the physical world.

✨ THE OPPORTUNITY

  • You will join the core engineering team and work closely with senior leadership, product and software engineering.
  • You will take a leading role in the development of our computer vision and AI capabilities, including model design, experimentation, evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
  • You will also contribute to the wider platform, helping us build reliable end-to-end systems that connect drone and LiDAR data with user-facing inspection workflows.

💪 WHAT YOU’LL DO

Computer Vision & Applied AI

  • Design, train, evaluate and improve computer vision and machine learning models
  • Build systems that process imagery, video, LiDAR, point clouds and 3D spatial data
  • Develop solutions for intelligent inspection, mapping, reconstruction and analysis
  • Improve model accuracy, robustness, inference speed and production reliability
  • Define evaluation methods, benchmarks and experimentation workflows
  • Investigate new techniques and determine when they are valuable in practice
  • Turn research ideas and prototypes into dependable product features
  • Build tooling for dataset preparation, experimentation and model validation
  • Help establish effective model deployment, monitoring and retraining processes

Software & Production Engineering

  • Design, develop and deploy new AI and software features into production
  • Build secure, scalable and fault-tolerant services
  • Contribute to 3D modelling, photogrammetry and geospatial processing initiatives
  • Integrate AI capabilities into Hammer Hub and customer-facing workflows
  • Improve code quality, maintainability and long-term system resilience
  • Test, monitor and analyse application and model performance in production
  • Diagnose technical issues across the stack and implement durable solutions
  • Introduce engineering best practices, tooling and development processes

Team & Technical Leadership

  • Help define and deliver the engineering and AI roadmap
  • Plan and execute bi-weekly development sprints with the software team
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering and senior leadership
  • Develop a strong understanding of the complete Hammer Missions platform
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly and contribute to architectural discussions
  • Help build a high-performance engineering culture based on ownership, quality and improvement.

Frontend

  • Vue.js, Google Maps JavaScript API

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • AWS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, Docker, Docker Compose

CI/CD

  • GitHub Actions, Automated testing and deployment workflows

You do not need to have experience with every technology listed. We care more about strong fundamentals, relevant problem-solving ability and the capacity to learn quickly.

✨ WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone with strong computer vision or applied AI experience who is equally motivated by building reliable products.

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • Experience developing computer vision, machine learning or applied AI systems
  • Strong Python development skills
  • Experience building, training and evaluating vision models
  • Experience working with image, video, LiDAR, point-cloud or spatial datasets
  • An understanding of model validation, benchmarking and performance optimisation
  • Experience deploying AI models, applications or services into production
  • Strong software engineering and computer science fundamentals
  • An understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability and performance
  • Experience building backend services using FastAPI, Flask, Node.js or similar frameworks
  • Experience with Git, Docker, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure and modern databases
  • A track record of building end-to-end systems rather than isolated prototypes
