Computer Vision Engineer – Algorithms (Cricket)

Location: Budapest, Hungary
Office: Budapest, Váci út 144–150, 1138 Hungary
Working Model: Hybrid (2 days per week in the Budapest office)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
At Hawk-Eye Innovations, we're at the forefront of sports technology, developing the tracking and decision-making systems used across some of the world's biggest sporting events!
We're looking for a Computer Vision Engineer – Algorithms to join our Cricket team in Budapest. This role is ideal for someone with commercial or strong academic experience in computer vision who is excited by solving complex technical challenges and seeing their work used in live sporting environments.
You'll work on the development and enhancement of the computer vision algorithms that power our cricket solutions, contributing to technologies such as ball tracking, player tracking, and other advanced tracking systems used at the highest levels of the sport.
Working alongside experienced Computer Vision Engineers and Algorithm Specialists across the UK and Hungary, you'll help improve the accuracy, robustness, and performance of systems that operate in real time and under the pressures of live sport.
What You'll Be Working On
- Developing and improving computer vision algorithms for cricket tracking systems.
- Building and enhancing ball and player tracking solutions using multi-camera technology.
- Contributing to multi-view geometry solutions to improve tracking accuracy.
- Solving challenging problems around occlusion, recovery, and object tracking.
- Optimising algorithms for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Enhancing mature computer vision systems already used in live production environments.
- Investigating and resolving algorithmic accuracy and performance issues.
- Collaborating with engineers across computer vision, software, and platform teams.
- Contributing ideas and improvements to existing systems and future developments.

What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience developing or applying computer vision algorithms through commercial or academic projects.
- Strong C++ programming skills and an interest in modern software development practices.
- Understanding of computer vision fundamentals and image processing techniques.
- Familiarity with multi-camera systems and associated computer vision challenges.
- An interest in algorithm optimisation and performance improvement.
- Experience using Git or other version control systems.
- Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team and communicate ideas effectively.
Nice to Have
- Experience with CUDA or GPU-accelerated computing.
- Knowledge of concurrency and parallel processing concepts.
- Understanding of networking or operating system fundamentals.
- Exposure to machine learning techniques or related frameworks.
- Experience working on real-time or high-performance systems.
