Job Description

Job Title: Concierge

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £36,491.52 Per Annum, Pro Rata

Working Hours: 28 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 1pm to 6pm, every other Saturday 8am to 2pm

Location: Millwall

The Difference You Will Make as a Concierge

The Estate Services team provides cleaning, gardening and concierge services across all regions. The core purpose of the team is to deliver a high quality, cost effective & responsive cleaning, grounds maintenance and concierge service, working closely with the housing management teams, landlord services, residents, reactive maintenance, and external contractors.

We want you to contribute to the quality and health and safety of the environment by becoming a champion for our customers taking responsibility for making our estates and communal areas a great place to live. You will take pride in the area you work and engage with residents so as to really understand the best way to maintain communal living spaces. You will be confident in undertaking caretaking, cleaning and concierge services duties, usually as part of a team but often organising your own work and looking after a particular area.

This role combines customer service, security, health and safety monitoring, record keeping, and compliance responsibilities to help create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities include completing daily concierge tasks, maintaining accurate records of visitors and incidents, ensuring all displayed information is current and authorised, and promoting a clean, safe, and well-managed environment. The post holder must wear the appropriate uniform and PPE, work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain security, and comply with all Riverside policies, procedures, mandatory training requirements, and data protection responsibilities.

Role Profile

  • Provide an excellent customer focused Concierge and Block Security service for all residents and visitors to both the block you are stationed in (exact location dependant on operational requirements) and the surrounding area.
  • Be proactive in enhancing the security of the block and taking all appropriate steps to create a clean, safe environment for residents and visitors (includes concierge office).
  • Inspect the block for faults, repairs/defects, health & safety and report these, monitoring through to completion.
  • Undertake general health and safety checks, including identify trip hazards etc.
  • Complete all daily tasks as detailed in concierge schedules and complete the required tick sheets
  • Wear the Riverside uniform and the relevant protective clothing / equipment.
  • Provide effective security presence, working with colleagues as necessary for personal safety.
  • Ensure all information displayed is appropriate, current & authorised (includes concierge office).
  • Maintain accurate records of non-resident visitors, annual courtesy visits, health and safety (accident book), observations and intelligence.
  • Adhere to and attend all of the Riverside internal policies and procedures training (must achieve pass mark).
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 (all employees of Riverside will not disclose or make use of, for their private advantage, any information held on manual or computer records, which are not available to the public, however acquired

Person Specification

Essential

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • The ability to communicate effectively with residents, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation (including fire safety) relating to concierge services and estate cleaning.
  • Personal safety & lone working practices.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including word, excel and outlook.

Desirable

  • Effective negotiation skills, problem solving and ability to resolve issues using own initiative.
  • The ability to work effectively on their own initiative and in teams.
  • A good general standard of education to O level, GCSE or equivalent.
  • First Aid at Work or similar.
  • Awareness of Equality and diversity issues and One Housing’s commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Previous experience in concierge / security or customer service.
